Not necessarily! Modern skin science has evolved beyond the 'ugly week' of traditional peeling. Most of our advanced treatments, such as BioRePeel or Lactic peels, focus on deep stimulation with minimal to zero visible shedding. However, for deep pigmentation or acne correction, you may experience 3–5 days of light flaking. We will always manage your expectations during the consultation.
Peels are incredibly versatile! You are an ideal candidate if you are looking to treat active acne, sun damage, Melasma, enlarged pores, or general dullness. Because we specialize in diverse skin types (Fitzpatrick 3-5), our peels are safe for everyone, from very fair to dark and olive skin tones. During your initial consultation, we will prescribe the perfect clinical solution for your specific needs.
We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours to allow your skin to heal properly. If necessary, use only mineral-based makeup.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:
• SUN EXPOSURE: Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment. We cannot apply acid to sun-damaged, sun-burnt, or recently tanned skin.
• SKINCARE DETOX: Discontinue the use of Retinol (Vitamin A), AHAs/BHAs (Glycolic, Salicylic), and exfoliating scrubs 5 days prior to your session.
• WAXING & DEPILATORY CREAMS: Please avoid waxing or using hair removal creams on the treatment area for at least 1 week before your appointment.
• HEALTH CHECK: We cannot perform chemical peels if you are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking antibiotics.
AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT:
• DO NOT PICK: As your skin begins to renew, you may experience micro-flaking or shedding. Do not pick, peel, or scratch the skin, as this can lead to permanent scarring or hyperpigmentation.
• UV PROTECTION (CRITICAL): Your skin is highly photosensitive after a peel. Apply SPF 50+ every 2 hours if outdoors and wear a broad-brimmed hat. Avoid direct sun for 2 weeks.
• HEAT AVOIDANCE: Skip high-intensity exercise, saunas, and hot showers for 48 hours. Excessive heat can cause the acid to "reactivate" or lead to post-treatment irritation.
• GENTLE CARE: Use only the gentle cleanser and the prescribed Post-Peel Balm provided. Do not use any active skincare (Retinol, Vitamin C, or Acids) for 7 days or until the skin is fully healed.
• MAKEUP: Avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 to 48 hours. If you must wear makeup, use a mineral-based product only.
